Make-A-Will Month: Planning for Your Future

By Alyssa Roberts

August is National Make-A-Will Month, a national awareness initiative that encourages individuals and families to create or update their estate plans. The Lambda Chi Foundation is proud to join organizations across the country in encouraging thoughtful estate planning and inviting Brothers and friends to consider the legacy they’d like to leave.

For many, estate planning begins with caring for the people they love. A carefully prepared will provides clarity for your family, ensures your wishes are honored, and can spare loved ones unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.

Once those priorities are addressed, many Brothers choose to remember the organizations that helped shape their lives. Including those organizations in an estate plan is one way to support the next generation and continue the work they believe in.

One of the simplest ways to do that is through a charitable bequest. By including the Lambda Chi Foundation in your will, trust, or beneficiary designations, you help provide future generations of Lambda Chi Brothers with opportunities to grow, serve, and lead.

Why It Matters

Today’s young men face significant challenges. Rising loneliness, declining college enrollment among men, and an increasing search for belonging have left many looking for purpose and direction.

Through the Men With Purpose campaign, the Lambda Chi Foundation is responding by investing in programs that help young men grow, serve, and lead, ensuring that generations to come have the support they need to become better leaders, fathers, mentors, and members of their communities.

A planned gift is one way to invest in the future of the Brotherhood. It helps today’s students benefit from the same opportunities, relationships, and support that have shaped Lambda Chi men for generations.

Join the Society of Living Legacies

Brothers and friends who choose to remember the Foundation in their estate plans become members of the Society of Living Legacies, a community of donors who have committed to strengthening the future of Lambda Chi Alpha.

Meet Fred

Growing up, Fred Suggs (Kansas State ‘70) admired the older Brothers from his church who found friendship and purpose through Lambda Chi Alpha. Those early role models ultimately led him to the Fraternity and inspired a lifelong commitment to giving back. By including the Lambda Chi Foundation in his estate plans and becoming a member of the Society of Living Legacies, Fred is helping ensure that future Brothers can benefit from the same opportunities that shaped his life.

By letting the Foundation know about your plans, you allow us to recognize you today while preparing for tomorrow.

Thank you to the more than 180 Brothers who have already joined our Society of Living Legacies!
